Free Digital Signage from MediaSignage.com
I like digital signage. I enjoyed coming up with a solution for HHBC last year (check it out at getsignboard.com) and I’ve been dreaming of putting more time and resources into further development but I just haven’t gotten to it.
Now it looks like I might not have to.
The very talented designer and fellow Oklahoman, Brandon Knight, just made me privy to MediaSignage.com. MediaSignage.com offers a free software as a service (they also have an enterprise option) that, in short, offers free digital signage, in the cloud, with browser and desktop applications available. It looks like this solution is super easy to customize and it even supports streaming video.
That’s tight.
I’m going to give MediaSignage.com a more in-depth look this coming week, but it certainly looks like a good solution if you don’t feel like messing with the, admittedly, technical installation required by what we’ve got going with Signboard.
Thanks for the tip, Brandon!
StreamAPI Opens Live Video Funtionality To All On Facebook
Lately I’ve seen a number of churches with online campuses that roll several social technologies together (twitter, Facebook, streaming video, etc.) to create their online experience.
I’ve always liked that approach because it does less reinventing of wheels by using existing services that people are already using.
Now it looks like your entire online campus could just take place in Facebook thanks to this service from Stickcam. Pretty cool.
Mogulus releases Procaster live streaming app
Streaming video coupled with audience interaction is somethign we’ll see more and more of, in the Church and elsewhere. In this space, two names come to my mind. Ustream and Mogulus. Personally, I prefer Mogulus out of the two. The features and polish along with the low learning curve make Mogulus my streaming video web app of choice.
Now they’ve released a desktop app to make things easier and provide support for more video sources (including your computer screen). This will be great for giving live seminars on how your church can use Facebook, how to navigate your ChMS (for the administive assistants and congregation), live stream events like summer camp and VBS (privacy policies should be considered) etc.
